Roger D. Smith, 66, of Pearl St., Martins Ferry, OH died Sat., Mar. 13, 2005 at home surrounded by loved ones. He was born Nov. 27, 1938 in Martins Ferry a son the late Harold and Eva (Barton) Smith. He worked at Satralloy for over 20 years and retired as a security guard from Wheeling-Jesuit University. Roger was a member of the First Christian Church of Martins Ferry and a veteran of the US Marine Corp. His love for fishing took him on many trips to Canada. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Alice I. (Pyle) Smith, a grandson Roger T. Smith, Jr., five brothers Andy, Harold "Bo", Richard, William, and Fred Smith, and a sister Marie Bennett. Surviving are two sons Roger T. (Jodi) Smith of Whitehall, OH and Dale F. (Lori) Smith of Hilliard, OH, a daughter Barbara (Joseph) Younkins of Martins Ferry, a brother James Smith of VA, two sisters Leona Linn and Geraldine Hoffman both of Martins Ferry, five grandchildren: Heidi (Ryan) Clark, Jeremy (Carrie) Younkins, and Nathan, Christian, and Joseph Smith, five step-grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Friends will be received Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH where services will held Mon., Mar. 14, 2005 at 11:00 AM with Joseph Younkins, son-in-law, officiating.
