(Rungo) Mccready
November 7, 1946 – December 8, 2022
Rose Marie McCready received her angel wings in Steubenville, Ohio, surrounded by her loving family, on December 8th, 2022. She was 76 years old. Rose was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio, on November 7, 1946, the daughter of the late Lou and Helen Rungo, she graduated in 1965, from Bridgeport High School and lived in Bridgeport, Ohio, for a number of years. She married her high school sweetheart 57 years ago on June 12, 1965.
Rose was an active member of the Church of Christ in Wheeling, West Virginia for 43 years. She served as a Girl Scout leader for over 30 years and belonged to the Red Hat Society. Additionally, she was a member of the Northern Panhandle Amateur Radio Club (NPARC). Her Ham OP Call was KD8LNW. Rose worked as a cook for the Bridgeport school system and spent many years as a caregiver.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Diane Rush, and Lee Rush.
Rose is survived by her husband Joe McCready; her three sons, Mike (Deb) McCready of Ohio, Dave McCready (Annette) of Florida, and Tom McCready of West Virginia; and her daughter, JoAnn Merson (Randy) of Ohio. Additionally, she has three granddaughters, Danielle McCready (Justin) of Hawaii, Ashley (Tyler) Kenney of Virginia, and Roni VanCamp of West Virginia, as well as a grandson, Shane McCready of Ohio. Her mother and father, Lou & Helen Rungo, her sister, Diane Rush, and brother, Lee Rush, all preceded her in death.
Her hobbies and interests included family, nature, camping, cooking, and baking for her family and friends. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her grandchildren.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. There are so many people whose lives she touched. She will be deeply missed by her family and will forever live on in their hearts and memories.
A memorial service will be held at National Road Church of Christ, Saturday, December 10, 2022, at 2:00pm. She will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Rd., Brookside is proudly assisting the family.
