Russell Leroy Bland, 76, of Barnesville, Ohio, died October 25, 2016 at Wheeling Hospital. Born July 9, 1940 in Steubenville, Ohio, he was the son of the late Russell H. Bland and Lena Frances Stevenson Bland. A member of Cornerstone Assembly of God in Barnesville, Russell's journey of faith was sharing the good news of God's love. He was a friend to many at the Commons, as well as sharing a friendship and respect with the Amish and their culture. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Beth Ann Bland. Russell is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Bland of Barnesville, Ohio and Betty Stanley of Parkersburg, West Virginia; sons, Lenny Bland of Queensland, Australia, Michael Bland of Mansfield, Ohio, Roger Bland of Bay City, Michigan, Scott Bland of Parkersburg, West Virginia; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Joe and Richard Bland both of Ashland, Ohio. There will be no visitation. A private service and interment will take place at the convenience of Russell's family.
