Russell E. Coss, 82, of Pleasant Grove, OH, formerly of Mt. Pleasant Pike, Martins Ferry, OH, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather went to be with his loving wife of sixty-one years Norma Jean, on Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010 at his residence. He was born Oct. 11, 1928 in West Wheeling, a son of the late J. Leslie and Alice (Smith) Coss. He was retired from the former Valley Machine Company of Martins Ferry, OH. Russell was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Martins Ferry. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Norma Jean (Gautschi) Coss, two brothers Lawrence and James Coss, two grandsons and one great grandson. Surviving are two sons Russell "Rusty" (Lorrie) Coss of St. Clairsville, OH, and Timothy Coss of Pleasant Grove, OH, five daughters Linda (Don) Van Camp of Wheeling, WV, Cindy (Tom) Smith of N. Canton, OH, Renee (Pat Parks) Coss of Bethlehem, WV, Marcie (Jay) Johnston of Cincinnati ,OH, and Karrie Jo (Rob) Meinecke of Cleveland, OH, a brother Irvin (Fran) Coss of Springfield, MA, a sister Thelma "Sis" Baker of Tempe, AZ, nineteen grandchildren, and twenty-six great grandchildren. Friends will be received Sunday 12-3 & 6-8 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Monday, Dec. 20, 2010 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Thomas N. Thomas officiating. Burial follows in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove. Memorial contributions may be made to Valley Hospice, 10686 Ste Rte 150, Rayland, OH 43934.
