Russell H. Geis, Sr., 81, of Pearl St., Martins Ferry, OH died Monday, Sept. 25, 2006 at James Cancer Hospital, Columbus, OH. He was born September 4, 1925 in Martins Ferry a son of the late John J. and Alice (Simcox) Geis. He was retired from the former Picoma Industries of Martins Ferry and a self-employed General Contractor and owner/operator of R & D Jewelry. Russell was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church, and American Legion Post # 38, both of Martins Ferry. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army WW II. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother John G. Geis, Jr., a sister Marjorie Cika, and a granddaughter Tammy Geis. Surviving are his wife Dorothy R. (Henry) Geis, a daughter Cindy (Dave) Link of Sunbury, OH, a son Russell H. "Rusty" (Pat) Geis, Jr. of Cortland, NY, five grandchildren David Link, Nikki Link Grills, Jessica Link, Laurie Cole, and Julie Ehrentraut, and eight great grandchildren. Friends will be received Thurs., 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Friday, Sept. 29, 2006 at 11:00 AM with Rev. William O. Webster officiating. Entombment follows in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH with military honors by the Belmont Co. Council of the American Legion.
