Sam Mamula, 84, of Florence, Martins Ferry, OH died Fri., Feb. 2, 2007 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry. He was born June 2, 1922 in Delora, OH a son of the late Mile and Cvjeta (Turbovich) Mamula. He was a retired laborer for Local # 809, Steubenville, OH. Sam was a member of the Holy Resurrection Serbian Eastern Orthodox Church, Steubenville, Serbian Orthodox Men's Club, Serb National Federation, former V.F.W Post # 3613, Martins Ferry, and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp, WW II. Sam also played semi-pro baseball. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step-mother Stana (Ogresovich) Mamula, a wife Helen (Glump) Mamula, an infant daughter,four brothers Roy, Mike, Duke, and George Mamula, two sisters Helen Schoffield and Rose Kovalchick, a step-brother Mele Ogresovich, and two step-sisters Mildred and Pauline Ogresovich. Surviving are a son Sam (Debbie) Mamula, Jr. of Reynoldsburg, OH, two daughters Frances (Rich) Wasko of Bellaire, OH and Marianne (Greg) Douglass of Quaker City, OH, three brothers Charles Mamula of Detroit, MI, Eli Mamula of Richmond, OH, and Nick Mamula of Carnegie, PA, a sister Anna Horsefield of Yucca Valley, Ca, a step-brother Mitch Ogresovich of Martins Ferry, and two grandchildren Alicia (Nikola) Lazic and Barbara Brink Douglass. Friends will be received at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH, Mon. 3-8 PM. Friends will then be received at Holy Resurrection Serbian Eastern Orthodox Church, Steubenville, Tues., Feb. 6, 2007 from 10:00 AM until time of services at 11:00 AM with Rev. F. Rade Merick officiating. Burial follows in Glencoe Cemetery, Glencoe, OH. Pomen Services will be held Monday at 7 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Resurrection Serbian Eastern Orthodox Church, 528 N. 4th St., Steubenville, OH 43952.
