Samuel Clinton Lofton, Jr., 76, of North Ridgeville, Ohio, formerly of Berea and Bridgeport, Ohio passed away with his family at his side on Friday, July 30, 2021 at his home.

Sam was born August 21, 1944 in the Martins Ferry Hospital, Martins Ferry, Ohio, the first of two children; a son of the late Samuel Clinton, Sr. (1921-2008) and Sarah Virginia (Mozingo) Lofton (1923-2019).  He was the grandson of the late Benjamin Franklin (1888-1960) and Elsie Mae (Peters) Lofton (1900-1985) and James Lee (c. 1885-1975) and Nora (Palmer) Mozingo (1892-1934).

Sam grew up in Bridgeport, Ohio.  When he was 11 months old his dad came home from World War II and finally got to meet him for the first time.  Sam was a 1962 graduate of Bridgeport High School.

Sam married Della Ann Trouten at the Grace Presbyterian Church in Martins Ferry on July 30, 1966.  Sam passed away on their 55th wedding anniversary.

He was a longtime educator and social studies department chair for the Berea City School District.  Sam was a member of the Berea United Methodist Church and taught a variety of Homebuilders classes.  He also taught various ILR classes for Baldwin Wallace.  He served as an Auditor of the BSE Credit Union, Middleburg Heights, for many years.  In his spare time, he loved watching and cheering on his Cleveland sports teams, along with his college alma mater - Ohio University.  He was an avid reader and historian and enjoyed traveling with his wife.  His pride and joy was spending lots of time with his family.

In addition to his parents and grandparents he was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Floyd Alexander, Sr. (1912-1981) and Della Ann (Funari) Trouten (1915-1985), his nephew, Kelly Lee Lofton, many cousins.

Sam is survived by his wife Della Ann Trouten Lofton, a son Samuel C. III (Vickie) of Olmsted Falls, OH, a daughter Lori L. Migyanko (Steven) of Seven Hills, OH.  Five grandchildren: Sam IV, Tyler and Olivia Lofton, Phillip and Anastasia Migyanko; one brother, Danny (Rose Ann) Lofton of Bellaire, OH; two nephews: Ben and Zack Lofton; a grandniece, Taylor Lofton; an aunt Audrey Mozingo; and many cousins.

Friends were received Thursday, August 5, 2021 from 4-8pm at the Baker, Osinski, & Kensinger Funeral Home, 206 Front Street, Berea, OH 44017.  Funeral services will be held there Friday, August 6, 2021 at 10:00am.  Interment to follow in Woodvale Cemetery, Middleburg Heights, OH.
