Sara Kathryn (Forsythe) Tidrick, 95, of St. Clairsville, OH, formerly of Pearl St., Martins Ferry, OH, died Saturday, Dec. 24, 2011 at Beacon House, St. Clairsville. She was born Mar. 6, 1916 in Martins Ferry the daughter of the late Wilbur E. and Nellie B. (Findley) Forsythe. Sara Kathryn was the first Office Secretary for Ohio University when it started at Martins Ferry High School in 1957. She retired in 1979 as Office Secretary of Ohio University Eastern Campus, St. Clairsville. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Martins Ferry for 83 years, a member since 1936 of Gamma Chapter, Alpha Pi Sigma Sorority, a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, and Bridgeport Chap. #452 Order of Eastern Star. Sara Kathryn was very proud of being a founding member of the former Concerned Citizens of Martins Ferry. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Vyron F. "Vy" Tidrick in 1980 and her son-in-law Gordon Brown in 2010. Surviving are her daughter Judy Brown of Martins Ferry, two sons James F. (Jenny) Tidrick of Lyles, TN, and Robert C. (Barbara) Tidrick of The Villages, FL, a brother Robert E. (Patty) Forsythe of The Villages, FL, seven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. Friends will be received Wednesday, 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011 at 11:00 am with Rev. David Stammerjohn officiating. Burial follows in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry. Deacons of the church will hold services Wednesday at 7:00 pm followed by Alpha Pi Sigma Sorority at 7:30 pm both in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or the Martins Ferry High School Alumni Association.
