"Sally" Smith
July 23, 1956 – January 9, 2024
Sarah Marie (Sally) Smith, age 67, joined the angels and her beloved family in heaven on January 9, 2024. Those she joined include her parents, Joseph G. and Beverly K. Smith, her sister, Mary Ann Hornbeck and her brother, Pete.
She is survived by her brother Mike and his wife Suzy, her sisters Marti and her husband Mark Lynch, Kathy and her husband Lynn Johnson, Peggy and her husband Dave LaRochelle, Fran and her husband Ed Zann and Patty and her husband Daryl Amaral, and her longtime caregiver, Ginger Kinsel. Sally was the loving aunt to many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Sally was a graduate of the School of Hope and worked for many years at both Belco and in the private sector.
She loved every animal in the world, but dogs, cats and horses were her favorites. She was known as the "animal whisperer" in the family.
Sally participated in the Special Olympics and excelled in swimming, bowling, bocce ball, and track.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Thank you to her Park Health caregivers and the amazingly kind and compassionate doctors and staff at East Ohio Regional Hospital in Martin's Ferry.
Friends may be received at the Wilson Funeral, Home Heslop Chapel 415 Walnut St, Martins Ferry on Saturday January 13, 2024, from 11am till time od service at 12 noon, with Pastor Rod Kasler officiating interment in Greenwood Cemetery Wheeling. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society.
