SHIRLEY A. BENCH, 75, of Barton, died Thursday, June 11, 2009 at her home. She was born May 31, 1934 in Barton, the daughter of the late Frank and Louise (Marx) Bench. Shirley graduated from Bridgeport High School. She then completed nurses training at the former White Cross Hospital, now known as Riverside Hospital in Columbus. Shirley returned home to the Ohio Valley to work as a Registered Nurse for 32 years with Ohio Valley Medical Center in Wheeling. She was Methodist by faith; an officer at the local chapter of AARP; a member of OPALS at Ohio Valley Medical Center and was a devoted member of TOPS in St. Clairsville. Shirley is survived by her loving brother Frank ""Jerry"" Bench and his wife Nettie of Bridgeport; a nephew Kevin Bench and his wife Rebbeca of Bridgeport and very special great niece and nephew Emily and Matthew Bench. Visitation will be Monday 2-8 pm at Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Rd., Brookside, where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 am with Reverend Homer Hardin officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove. Memorial contributions may be made to Valley Hospice, 10686 State Route 150, Rayland, Ohio 43943.
