Shirley (Covington) Nichols, 72, of Main St., Florence, Martins Ferry, OH died Friday, Dec. 7, 2007 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry, OH. She was born Jan. 27, 1935 in Bridgeport, OH a daughter of the late Burton E. and Mabel V. (Jeffers) Covington. She was a retired employee of K-Mart. Shirley was a Presbyterian by faith and a member of the Sunset Heights Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, and she also was an avid fisherman. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Everett "PeeWee" Nichols, a son Thomas Nichols, and a sister Jean Mayhugh. Surviving are two daughters Diane (James) Nichols-Fleming of West Berlin, VT, and Deborah Nichols of San Clemente, CA, a brother Burton E. Covington, Jr. of Glendale AZ, a sister Deanna Ewing of Martins Ferry, three grandchildren Nathaniel and Fiona Grace Nichols-Fleming and T.J. Nichols. Friends will be received Tuesday 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Wednesday Dec. 12, 2007 at 11:00 am with Rev. William O. Webster officiating. Burial follows in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Sunset Heights Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
