Shirley S. (Shafer) Blinco Carpenter, 72, of Commercial Dr., Bridgeport, OH formerly of Martins Ferry, OH died Wed., Apr. 23, 2008 at Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling, WV. She was born May 2, 1935 in Martins Ferry a daughter of the late Carlye and Violet (Higgs) Shafer. She was retired from the Yorkville Plant of Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel. Shirley was a member of the First Christian Church and P.N.A. Lodge #2220 both of Martins Ferry. She was a lifetime member of VFW Post #4812 Auxiliary of Yorkville, OH and past president and flag bearer of VFW Ohio District #5. She was preceded in death by her first husband Jack Blinco, Sr., her second husband Louis L. Carpenter, two brothers George M. and Frank Shafer, and three sisters Sandra French, Alice Cole, and Juanita Reed. Surviving are her son Jack (Debbie) Blinco, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL, a daughter Jill (Russell) Beabout of St. Clairsville, OH, a brother Carl (Patty) Shafer of Martins Ferry, four granddaughters Brooke Klempa, and Kristy, Kari and Kellie Mackey, and nine great grandchildren. Friends will be received Sunday 12-3 and 6-8 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Monday, Apr. 28, 2008 at 10:00 am with Minister Bill Fulton officiating.
