Sophia (Stopera) Scheehle, 91, of Dillonvale, OH died Tuesday, June, 21, 2011 at the home of her daughter. She was born Dec. 29, 1919 in McMechen, WV a daughter of the late Andrew Stopera and Nettie (Sudan) Stopera Jobee. She was a member of the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Pleasant Grove, OH. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Ray D. Scheehle, Sr., two brothers Anthony "Tony" and Richard Stopera, and three sisters Emily Hails, Mary Hill, and Genevieve Fithen. Surviving are her daughter Sandra (John) Harr of Mt. Pleasant, OH, a son Ray D. Scheehle, Jr of Martins Ferry, OH, a brother Walter (Dee) Stopera of Rayland, OH, a sister Lillian (Bob) Calder of Holt, MI, five grandchildren Deborah Starosciak, Kimberly Smith, Jodi Miller, John Harr, Jr., and Stacey Shablack, seven great grandchildren, and sisters-in-law Isabelle and Peggy Stopera. Friends will be received Thursday, 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Friday, June 24, 2011 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Henry Mooney officiating. Burial follows in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Grove U.
