Stella W. (Drop) Pempek, 88, of Cadiz, OH, formerly of Martins Ferry, OH died Monday, January 18, 2016, at Carriage Inn of Cadiz. She was born February 4, 1927 in Wheeling, WV a daughter of the late John and Mary (Chawlecke) Drop. She retired from the Dietary Dept. of East Ohio Regional Hospital and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Martins Ferry. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Frank J. Pempek, October 3, 2015, sisters, Pauline Pasden, Henriette Norris, Mary Mitchell, Helen Poludniak and Genevieve Mick and a brother, Theodore Drop. Surviving are her son, Frank A. (Bernie) Pempek of Bridgeport, OH, daughter, Sharon K. (Robert) Sluka of Edgewood, KY, grandchildren, Jamie vanWunnik, Meghan Sluka and Kaitlyn Sluka and a great granddaughter, Lauren vanWunnik. Family and friends will be received at Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH, Wednesday, 6-8 p.m. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Thursday, January 21, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. Tom Marut officiating. Burial follows in St. Mary Cemetery, Martins Ferry. Wake services will be held Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
