Steve
Sorvalis
November 5, 1941 – February 5, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Steve Sorvalis, who left us peacefully at home on the morning of February 5th, 2024, at the age of 82. Born on November 5th, 1941, to George and Mary (Rigas) Sorvalis, Steve's life was one marked by dedication, love, and laughter.
Steve grew up in Bellaire, where he graduated from Bellaire High School in 1959. He was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church in Martins Ferry. Steve was a man of many talents, most notably his knack for entrepreneurship. He was the proud owner of multiple businesses throughout his life, with the most notable being West Texas Roadhouse. His charismatic presence at the Roadhouse became a beloved staple, ensuring that anyone who saw Steve at the bar was guaranteed not only a drink but also a good laugh. If you ever found yourself at the Roadhouse with Steve manning the bar, you were in for a treat—first rounds on him, and maybe the second, if you could keep up with his stories.
Steve is survived by his partner in work, fun and life of 47 years, Linda; his son George and daughter-in-law Sara; his best little buddy, Gatsby his brother Pete and sister-in-law Anna Sorvalis; niece Marielena, nephews George, and Lee; great-nephews Lucas, and Pano.
Steve's life was a testament to the joy of giving, the strength of an entrepreneurial spirit, and the value of family and friendship. As we say goodbye to a man who was undoubtedly the heart and soul of any gathering, and the embodiment of living life to the fullest, let's gather to share stories, laughter, and togetherness he cherished so much—and maybe a beer or two in his honor.
A service to commemorate Steve's life will be held at Wilson Funeral Home 902 National Road Brookside on Monday February 12th from 3-7. Service on Tuesday at 11 am, with Fr. Constantine Makrinosis officiating. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Greek Orthodox Church of the Life-Giving Foundation 314 N. 5th Street Martins Ferry, Ohio 43935 or The Road Home Animal Project PO Box 522 St. Clairsville, Ohio 43950 in Steve's memory, to continue his legacy of support for the community he held dear.
