Steven 'Steve' Mehl

Steven 'Steve' Gregory Mehl, 70, of Bridgeport, Ohio passed away Friday June 19th, 2026. Steve was born in Wheeling, WV, a son of the late Reverand Richard Mehl and Jacqueline (Clark) Mehl.

Steve was a Laborer for the State of West Virginia and music was one of the greatest loves of his life. A lifelong fan of rock and roll, he spent more than 30 years as the lead singer of the local cover band, Driver. Through decades of performances across the Ohio Valley, Steve entertained countless audiences and formed lasting friendships. For many who knew him, it's impossible to think of Steve and not think of rock and roll.

Left to cherish his memory are his children Steven (Jasmine Devore) Mehl, Allison (Jason) Collette and Gino (Andrea) Mehl; grandchildren that lovingly referred to him as Poppy, including Matthew and Maria Collette, Miles, Carter and Arthur Mehl and Trinity, Marley, Adley and Sebastian Mehl; a brother Tom (Debbie) Mehl and nephew, Zach Mehl.

According to Steve’s wishes there will be no public visitation. Wilson Funeral Home Heslop Chapel 415 Walnut St. Martins Ferry, Ohio is assisting the family.
