Susan Jean Criswell, 71 of Wheeling, formerly of Martins Ferry passed away Monday, July 11, 2022, at Wheeling Hospital. She was born September 30, 1950, in Martins Ferry the daughter of the late Orville and Elsie (Benning) Beavon.

She was a former teacher in the Martins Ferry School System and Ohio County Schools including the former Wheeling Catholic Elementary for 19 years, a total of 40 years in all doing what she loved most teaching. Susan was active in the Martins Ferry Alumni Association and was very instrumental in helping to launch the Eden Family Restaurant. Susan was a Lutheran by faith.

Susan is survived by her loving husband of 49 years John, 3 sons, Christopher Criswell of Wheeling, Trebor Criswell of Columbus, and Brandon (Kelli) Criswell of Wheeling and Tonya Wilds, grandchildren; Akasha, Brody, Maddix, Paetyn, Tierney and Cameron Criswell, sisters; Marsha McKean of Doylestown, and Barb Maguire of Martins Ferry, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great nephews complete the family.

A memorial visitation will be Thursday, July 14, 2022, from 1 to 3. Funeral will be at 3pm at the Wilson Funeral Home – Heslop Chapel, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry. There will be a luncheon following the service at the former Agape Church, 99 14th St. Wheeling, WV.
