TOGETHER AGAIN:
Susann Elizabeth Deihl, 80, of Bridgeport, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at Trinity Hospital in Steubenville, Ohio. She was born on January 31, 1946, in Martins Ferry, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Dolly (Delande) Neuhardt.
Susann retired from Bridgeport Schools as an educator after 49 years of dedicated service. She was inducted into the Bridgeport Alumni Hall of Fame in 2018. Susann possessed a rare gift for teaching and was known for her dedication, gentle nature, and steady presence among her students.
She was a member of the Women’s Club of Bridgeport, Eastern Star, and Trinity Lutheran Church. Susann also worked tirelessly on the Vance Deihl Memorial Golf Scramble for 15 years in honor of her late husband.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Vance K. Deihl, in 2010, with whom she shared 41 years of marriage.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Vanessa (Paul) Schroeder of Westerville and Jennifer (Joe) Nichols of New Albany; her beloved granddaughter, Kenley Nichols; her sister, Mary Landers of Bridgeport; her brother, Larry (Jean) Neuhardt of Michigan; her loving Carlisle, Pennsylvania family; along with her dearest nieces and nephews. Her life was one of loyalty and love for family and friends.
Family and friends will be received at Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Road, Bridgeport, on Tuesday, May 26, from 2–4 p.m. and 6–8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 27, at 12 noon with Rev. Nancy DeStephano officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Education Association (NEA) Foundation.
