Obituary

Thomas T. Armstrong, 77, of Martins Ferry, Ohio died Sunday, March 6, 2011 surrounded by his family. He was born on July 2, 1933 in Short Creek WV, a son of the late George and Mary Gatts Armstrong. He had been fortunate enough to be able to retire from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Yorkville Plant and from his contractor business, Armstrong Construction, to enjoy a return to farming; he also was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, the VFW post 8848 both of Colerain, the Lansing Sportsman Club, Bridgeport Foresters, and the Martins Ferry Elks #895. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Grace (James) Smith; two brothers, Robert and Ralph Armstrong; and a granddaughter, Shannon Berhalter Guiney. Tom is survived by his loving wife of over fifty years, Paula Riba Armstrong: three children; Victoria Berhalter, Rebecca (Ben) McMullen, and Thomas (Pam) Armstrong, Jr.: two brothers; Glenn (Mary Anne) Armstrong and Wayne (Gerri) Armstrong: a sister; Ruth (James) Manning: six grandchildren; Chris (Vanessa) Berhalter, Josh McMullen, Logan McMullen, Jesse McMullen, Seth McMullen, and Cole Armstrong: and four great grandchildren; Nicholas Berhalter, Abigail Berhalter, Nathan Berhalter, and Sean Guiney. Friends will be received on Friday, March 11, 2011 at Wilson Funeral Home 920 National Road Brookside, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wake service will be recited Friday at 3:30 pm at the funeral home. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church Colerain, with Rev. Dale Tornes officiating, with the interment to occur immediately following at Holly Memorial Gardens Pleasant Grove.
