Thomas E. Ayers, 88, of Martins Ferry, OH died Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. He was born July 22, 1929 in Blaine, OH a son of the late Thomas E. and Delore (Teilhet) Ayers. He was the retired President and Owner/Operator of Ayers Limestone Quarry, Inc., Martins Ferry. He was a life member of the American Legion Post # 38 and Martins Ferry Library Board, also a member of the Chimney Club, Ohio City Lodge #486 F. & A M., former Peoples Bank Board, Colerain V.F.W. Post #8848 and Friends of NRA. Tom was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Anna Marie Ayers, son, Tommy Ayers and sisters; Jackie Vrotsos and Patty Forsythe. Surviving are his wife, Patricia Ann "Patty" (Gillespie) Ayers, his son, John T. ( Brittany) Ayers of Martins Ferry, his sister, Darlene (John) Kibby of Martins Ferry and grandchildren; Gage Ayers and Roger Jennette. Friends will be received at Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, Wednesday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. where services will be held Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. David Stammerjohn officiating. Burial follows in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville, OH. Deacons of the church will hold services Wednesday at 7 p.m. followed by Masonic Ritualistic services at 7:30 p.m. both in the funeral home. Military honors will be presented Thursday at 10:45 a.m. in the funeral home by the Belmont County Veteran's Association. Memorial contributions may be made to: American Legion Post #38, 221 S.
