Thomas Dudzik, 79, of Cemetery Rd., Martins Ferry, OH died Sat., Nov. 4, 2000 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry. He was born Aug. 23, 1921 in Weirton a son of the late Paul and Sophia Dudzik. He was a retired U.S. Naval Reservist and was also retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Yorkville plant. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry, VFW Post #3613 where he was a six-time commander, American Legion Post #38, Eagles Aerie #456, Polish National Alliance, and the Knights of Columbus all of Martins Ferry. He served on the Martins Ferry Council from 1969 to 1991 and was a Navy veteran of WWII. He was also a member of the Bellaire DAV; an All-American Ohio State Commander in 1980, a national council member of the National VFW and he also held several other national offices of the VFW. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Paula Dudzik, three brothers Joseph, Stanley, and John Dudzik, and three sisters Rose Malatesta, Mary Fekete, and Sophia Decker. Surviving are his wife Jean Mauk Dudzik, two sons Thomas Dudzik of Colerain and Edward Dudzik of Adena, a daughter Mrs. Lee (Barbara) Zonker of St. Clarisville, two sisters Lottie Blaschak and Estella Pajunen both of Martins Ferry, and four grandchildren. Friends will be received Tue. 7-9 PM and Wed. 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Thur. at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry with Rev. Thomas Magary officiating. Burial follows in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry with full military graveside services by the Belmont County Council of the VFW. On Wednesday, Rosary devotions will be held at 3:00 PM; services by VFW Post #3613 at 7:00 PM , with Wake services at 7:30 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Catholic School Project 2001.
