Thomas Strekel, Jr., 88, of Ramsey, died Monday July 13, 2009 at his home surounded by his family. He was born April 26, 1921 in Ramsey, the son of the late Thomas and Jennie Youkel Strekel Sr. He was a retired service manager for the former Valley Lincoln Mercury, Wheeling. He was a member of St. Casimir Catholic Church, Adena and a U.S. Army WW II veteran. He was fond of dogs and he also liked to fish and the outdoors. In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his wife Pearl Miller Strekel, a brother Stanley Strekel and a sister Frances Mooney. Thomas is survived by a son Thomas James Strekel of Smithfield, four daughters Gloria Bartyzel (John) and June Kensicki (John) both of Dillonvale, Sharon Slokan (Albert) of Glen Dale, Wv, Donna Sliva (Roger) of Adena, a brother John Strekel (Helen) of Upper Marlboro, Md. six grandsons; Joseph and James( Pauline) Bartyzel, Michael Kensicki, Raymond Slokan, Scott and Matthew Sliva(Fiance Amanda Eikenberry), nine granddaughters; Alison Strekel, Annette Powell(Derek), Karen Kensicki, Amy Slokan, Jennifer Finley(Adam), Paula Lucas(Eddie), Julianne Furukawa(Blaine), Leanne and Rebecca Sliva, and eight great grandchildren. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 at Wilson Funeral Home 154 Second Street, Dillonvale, Oh. where services will be held at 10 am on Friday with Msgr. John Kolesar officiating. Interment will follow at Olive Branch Cemetery, Harrisville, Oh with full Military graveside services by Dillonvale American Legion McCook Post 529. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Charity Hospice P.O. Box 2483 Wintersville, Oh. 43953 or the Jefferson County Humane Society.
