Obituary

Thomas B. "Rip" Ripley Sr. 85 of Lansing died Saturday July 31, 2010 at East Ohio Regional Hospital Martins Ferry. He was born April 11 1925 in Wheeling a son of the late Raymond E. and Catherine (Laffey) Ripley. He was a retired truck driver for Wheeling-Pitts Steel Benwood Plant and a retired bus driver for Bridgeport School Systems, a member of the Benwood American Legion #46, Bellaire DAV #117, Bridgeport Eagles #995, Colerain VFW #8848, Wheeling Kain Club, St. Paul's Episcopal Church Martins Ferry and a veteran of WWII in the US Navy where he received a Purple Heart. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Ellen E. (Sine) Ripley, and his second wife Rosemary (Huffman) Ripley, and three brothers Harold, Jack, and Raymond Ripley. Rip is survived by a son Thomas B."Ike" (Janet) Ripley Jr. of Demotte IN., four step-daughters Patricia Kinnison, Denise (Steve) Gerevics, and Kathy (John) Whitacre all of Bridgeport, and Judy Sayre of Glen Dale WV, two sisters Patricia (Charles) List of Baltimore Md. and Joann Frazier of Virginia Beach, eight step-grandchildren, seven step-great grandchildren, one step-great great grandson and many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Wilson Funeral Home 920 National Road Brookside Wednesday August 4, 2010 from 11-1 and 5-7 where services will be held Thursday at 11 am with Kathy Whitacre officiating interment in Linwood Cemetery Blaine. Full military services will be held by the Belmont County Council of the VFW before the service on Thursday.
