Thurman D. Young 62, of Barton died Wednesday August 17, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 23, 1949 in Elkview WV, a son of the Carrie Marie Chaplan of Uniontown Ohio, and the late Benjamin Thurman Young. He was a retired employee of Barton Salvage and a Army Veteran of the VietNam War. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a daughter Christine E. Howard, his brothers John T., and Gregory P Young, and a sister Mary Alice Gandy. Thurman is survived by his loving wife of 29 years Linda Szeles Young, three sons; Jeffery D. (Becky) Young of Martins Ferry, James R. Young of SC, and Roger D. (Sandra) Howard of Brilliant, four daughters; Carol D.(Harry) Bradley of Moscow MI, Lisa Anne (Pete) Black of Barton, Claire V. (Larry) Young of Bellaire, and Jeannie M. (Jr.) Roton of Spencer, WV, a brother; James Judson (Vickie) Young of Cleveland, three sisters; Diane (Roy) Roton of Spencer, WV, Donna Siders of Clendenin, WV, and Pam (Ray) Shumate of Spencer WV,also his grandmother Carrie E. Chaplin who is 102 years old, of Clendenin, WV and several aunts and uncles, 33 Grandchildren, and 13, great grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Wilson Funeral Home 920 National Road Brookside Friday August 19, 2011, from 4-8 pm, and then at the Myers Funeral Home 100 Verna Dr., Elkview WV, on Sunday August 21, 2011 from 4-8 pm, where services will be held on Monday at 1 pm. Interment in Strickland Cemetery Elkview WV. Full Military Graveside services will be held American Legion Post 61 Clendenin.
