Vera F. (Jones) Harris, 76, of Glenns Run Rd., Martins Ferry, OH died Sunday, July 20, 2008 at home. She was born Oct. 7, 1931 in Martins Ferry a daughter of the late George and Harriett (Fairburn) Jones. She was retired from the former McGraw Nursing Home, Pleasant Grove, OH. Vera was a Methodist by faith. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Robert W. Harris, a daughter Sheila Marie Harris, four brothers Alfred, Russell, Eugene and Vernon Jones, and four sisters Vesta Haynes, Mary Bennett, Mildred Cushing and Harriet Moc. Surviving are a daughter Brenda Stewart and her fiancee John Davis of Martins Ferry, a granddaughter Amanda Thomas and her husband BJ of Martins Ferry, two great grandchildren who were her best friends Emily and Ellie Thomas, three sisters Maxine Younger of Rock Hall, MD, Velma (Willis) Deaton of Lorain, OH and Martha Carpenter of Martins Ferry, and several nieces and nephew. Friends will be received Tuesday, 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at 11:00 am with Rev. William O. Webster officiating. Burial follows in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association of Ohio, 226 State Route 61, Norwalk, OH 44857.
