Vera E. Miller, 79, of Barnesville, Ohio, died Monday, April 28, 2014 at Barnesville Health Care Center. She was born July 4, 1934 in Barnesville, Ohio, daughter of the late Lester E. Phillips and Dorothy V. McKendree Phillips. She had worked as a cook at Olney Friends School for many years. She enjoyed canning, preserving the summer flavors for many seasons. Her passion was gardening and her gardens were acres upon acres, giving her much delight. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Edward Miller; brother, Howard Phillips; grandson, Dustin Starr; and great -granddaughter, Anna Marie Fulton. Vera is survived by her daughters, Margaret R. Starr of Speidel, Julie (Robert) Blackman of North Carolina; son, Dale W. (Elizabeth) Miller of Barnesville; grandchildren, Dorothy, Kimberly, Justin, Austin, Dalton, Dakota, Kylie, Christopher; great-grandchildren, Kyi, Taison, Gunner, Daugherty, Abby; sister, Linda (Jerry) Glover of Paris, Ohio; and brother, Harold (Janet) Phillips of Barnesville. Family and friends may visit, Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m., Kelly Kemp Braido & Patron Funeral Home, 702 E. Main Street, Barnesville, Ohio. A funeral mass will be conducted, Thursday 11 a.m., St. John The Baptist Church, 35560 Miltonsburg-Calais Road, Woodsfield, Ohio. Father Dave Gaydosik officiating.
