Virgil D. Matthews 91 of Commercial Drive Bridgeport formally of Tiltonsville died Monday September 6, 2010 at Heartland-Lansing Nursing Home Bridgeport. He was born July 14, 1919 in Sardis, Ohio a son of the late Calip and Annie Matthews. He was a retired employee of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Yorkville, a member of the Church of Christ in St. Clairsville, and an Army veteran of WWII. In addition to his parents Virgil was preceded in death by his wife Lillian Richman Matthews, a son Delbert Matthews, several brothers, and sisters. Surviving are a Niece Ruth (Rich) Harris of Connersville, a grandson, and several great grandchildren.
