Virginia (Mecodangelo) Olenar, 91, of Rayland, OH died Friday, May 3, 2013 at her home. She was born April 27, 1922 in Martins Ferry, OH a daughter of the late Orazio and Clara (Antonacci) Mecodangelo. Virginia was owner and operator of the former Olenar Grocery of Glen Robbins for 21 years. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiltonsville, OH. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Anthony Olenar, a brother Samuel Mecodangelo. Surviving are her son Mark A. Olenar of Dillonvale, OH, daughter; Clara Marie Hompertz of Hilliard, OH, sister-in-law; Dorothy Mecodangelo of Bethlehem, WV, four grandchildren; Mathew Hompertz and Stephanie Woodward both of Hilliard, OH, Anthony Lucas Olenar of Rayland and Daniel Olenar of Chester, CA, and three great grandchildren; Kyle Hompertz of Hilliard, OH, Jack Lillis of Upper Arlington, OH and Sophia Woodward of Hilliard, OH. Friends will be received Tuesday, May 7, 2013 from 8:30am to 9:30am at the Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiltonsville, OH with Msgr. Gene W. Mullett officiating. Burial follows in Upland Cemetery, Yorkville, OH.
