Virginia A. (Tanley) Tobin, 91, of Third St., Martins Ferry, OH, formerly of Colerain Pike, died Tues., Apr 19, 2005 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry. She was born Mar. 21, 1914 in Martins Ferry a daughter of the late Thomas A. and Lula May (Farmer) Tanley. She was a retired licensed practical nurse for Martins Ferry Hospital and a graduate of Martins Ferry High School. Virginia attended the First Christian Church where she was a member of the U & I Class. She was active in civic affairs, a member of the Senior Saints as well as a participant in Wayne Hays Community Projects. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Clyde H. Tobin, a son Clyde Thomas Tobin, a brother Floyd Tanley, and a sister Launa Keener. Surviving are two daughters Eileen Matthews of Nicholasville, KY and Sharon T. Peterson of Cortland, OH, a son Fredrick (Alice) Tobin of Collinsville, OK, and a daughter-in-law Ann Tobin of St. Clairsville, twelve grandchildren, and twenty-one great grandchildren. Friends will be received Thurs., 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Fri., Apr. 22, 2005 at 1:00 PM with Minister Rod Kasler officiating. Burial follows in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to the House of the Carpenter, 200 S. Front St., Wheeling, WV 26003.
