BYRD, Vonda Viola Church, 85, of Bridgeport, Ohio, formerly of Wheeling Island, died Saturday April 17, 2010 at Belmont Community Hospital, Bellaire, Ohio. She was born at Rosemont, W.Va., on October 28, 1924, a daughter of the late Charles H. and Arrietta Vanscoy Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Howard W. Byrd; a daughter, Charlotte Baranski and a sister, Gertrude Kuhens. Vonda is survived by a son, Gene Sherman of Bridgeport, two daughters: Nancy Myers and Trudy Fedorke, both of Martins Ferry, Ohio; a step-daughter, Laura Leshuk (Gary) of Wheeling; a son-in-law, "Doc" Baranski of Adena, Ohio; two brothers: Charles Robert Church (Emma) of McClure, Pa., and Sanford W. Church (June) of Bannock, Ohio; two sisters, Mae Murphy of Wheeling and Gwen Krehlik (Joe) of St. Clairsville, Ohio; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Monday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Road, Brookside, Ohio where friends will gather on Tuesday April 20, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. for a procession to Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling for interment.
