Obituary

Walter E. Cichon, 86, of Dillonvale, died Wednesday March 7, 2012 at Liza's Place Wheeling. He was born on February 16, 1926 in Piney Fork, a son of the late Andrew and Mary (Dragos) Cichon.Walter was a life long member of St. Adalbert's Catholic Church and a recipient of the Fidelis Award. He was a Veteran of the US Army and served in WW II, a 65 year member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1572, and the former American Legion Post #153 YTR.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife Lottie (Boroski) Cichon in 1997, a brother Carl Cihon, two sisters Clara Jablonski, and Wanda Smith.He was retired from Consolidated Coal Co. after 42 years, and was the owner and operator of Vicki's Tavern for 35 years.Surviving are his children, Richard S. (Marsha) Cichon Sr. of Rayland, Victoria M. (Don) Kujawa of Narragansett, RI., Cheryl A. (William) Morelli of Glen Robbins, and Patricia C. Novak of Orient, Ohio. Grandchildren Kimberly A. (Dan) Cermak of Dillonvale, Richard S. Cichon Jr. of Mt. Gilead, Ohio, Mary Elizabeth (J.D.) Bruno of Rayland, and Don Vincent Kujawa of Narragansett, RI., great grandchildren Anna and Daniel Cermak and Jaxson Bruno. Two sisters Toni Baumgartner of Oregon, Ohio, and Mary Agnes (Richard) Francisco of Las Vegas, NV., two Brothers Henry (Evelyn) Cichon of Adena, and Robert (Theresa) Cichon 0f Piney Fork.Friends will be received at Wilson Funeral Home 154 Second Street Dillonvale on Friday March 9, 2012 from 2-8 pm, with vigil services recited Friday at 5:00 pm at the funeral home. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 am at St. Adalbert's Church with Msgr. John C. Kolesar as celebrant. Burial follows in Holly Memorial Gardens Pleasant Grove.
