Walter P. Holmes, of S. 3rd St., Martins Ferry, OH died Tues., Jan. 5, 2010 in East Ohio Regional Hospital , Martins Ferry. He was born Aug. 2, 1934 in Jersey City, NJ, a son of the late Walter and Helen (Comyack) Holmes. He was retired meat manager of the Shop Rite Food Markets. Walter was a Catholic and a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother John Holmes. Surviving are three sons Walter (Karen) Holmes of Brick, NJ, John P. (Karen) Holmes of Martins Ferry, OH, and Edward A. (Victoria) Holmes of Brick, NJ, a daughter Shari Holmes of Toms River, NJ, four grandchildren Adam and Eric Holmes, Tiffany Albanese, and Christopher Holmes, three great grandchildren Matthew, Anthony, and Caden, and a dear friend Teri Jo. Friends will be received Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010 from noon until time of services at 2:00 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH with Rev. Thomas A. Magary officiating.
