Wanetta M."Wanda"(Funari) McCleery,97, of Celina, TX, formerly of Martins Ferry, OH died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013 at Baylor Medical Center, McKinney, TX. She was born on June 24, 1916 in Glencoe, OH a daughter of the late Basil and Louise (Peroni) Funari. Wanda had been living in Celina with her son Walter, daughter-in-law Angela, and granddaughter Morgan Danielle McCleery since 1993. She attended St. Elizabeth Nursing School in Dayton, OH , was a graduate of the Kellberg Institute, Chicago, IL in Physical Therapy and a graduate of Wheeling Business School, Wheeling, WV. Early on Wanda was the owner of Wanetta's Delicatessen in Wheeling and later in life operated her physical therapy office in Wheeling and eventually moved her practice to her home in Martins Ferry. Wanda was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Nurse Corps during WW II. She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Martins Ferry and Prosper Presbyterian Church in Prosper, TX. She is a charter member of WW II Memorial in Washington D.C., a member of American Legion Post # 38 and the Post Auxiliary of Martins Ferry as well as life member of the DAV in Bellaire, OH. She also was a member of the Professional Business and Women's Club of Martins Ferry. She was preceded in death by her husband Daniel W. McCleery, a brother P. Larry Funari of Belpre, OH, sisters; Della Ann Trouten of Berea, OH, and Eva Marie Gordon of Canton, OH. Surviving are her beloved family, son, Walter, daughter in-law, Angela K. and dearest granddaughter, Morgan Danielle McCleery, sisters; Olga Virginia Dezio of Wilmington, NC, Emma Louise Reasbeck of Port Orange, FL, and Betty Jane Cappelletti of St. Clairsville, OH. Friends will be received Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, 2-4 & 6-8 pm at Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013 at 10:00 am with Rev. William O. Webster officiating. Burial follows in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling, WV. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Presbyterian Church, 7 N.
