Obituary

Willard (Bill) Blaney, 86, of Mt. Olivet, West Virginia, formerly of Bethesda, Ohio, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2013 at his home. He was born July 28, 1926 in Vinita, Oklahoma, son of the late Bob Blaney and Genie Horne Blaney. Bill attended school in many states before his family settled in Bethesda, Ohio, where he met his wife of 66 years, Rena M. Emory. He graduated from Bethesda High School and attended Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, were he enjoyed the sport of boxing. Bill left college to enter the Army, during World War II. As a local, custom home builder, he provided homes for nearly 1,000 families, built the Moundsville Baptist Church, and the Marshall County Osteopathic Hospital, which is now the Marshall County Board of Education building in Moundsville, West Virginia. Bill loved feeding the birds, taking walks on his farm, spending time with his wife, Rena, and his family. He was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Rena and his brothers, Dwight, Dexter, and Clive. Bill is survived by his four daughters, Sheila (Henry) Fitzpatrick, Cindy (Dale) Ward, Nancy (Harry) Bishop, and Beverly (Bob) Gibb; two sons, Rod (Wanda) Blaney and Tim (Elizabeth) Blaney; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Guy (June) Blaney and Durward (Gwendolyn) Blaney; two sisters-in-law, Jacque Blaney and Marilyn Blaney; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; special cousin, Conrad Blaney; and his special angels, Patty, Larry, Amy, Lynn, Cindy, Kortnie, Macy, and Paisley. Family and friends are welcome to visit, Wednesday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., at Kelly Kemp Braido & Patron Funeral Home, 322 North Main Street, Bethesda, Ohio, where the service will be conducted, Thursday at 1 p.m. Reverend Tom Detling will be officiating. Interment will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery, Bethesda, Ohio. Belmont County Honor Guard will conduct a Military Service, Thursday at 12:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
