William R. (Bill) Hanson, 79, of Martins Ferry, died Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Wheeling Hospital surrounded by friends and family.  Bill was born in Martins Ferry on October 23, 1939 to the late James and Mildred Swearengen

Hanson.  He was retired from Wheeling Steel Mill in Yorkville, OH and was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kirkwood.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Chad in 2004 and a sister, Mary Ellen Ceasar in 1996.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Carol Greiner Hanson of Martins Ferry; two sons, Scott (Lorrie) Hanson  of Martins Ferry and Todd (Lisa) Hanson of Virginia Beach, VA; five grandchildren, Sarah, Joshua (Kelcey), Jared, Cassie and Jeremy and three great granddaughters, Nova, Ryleigh and Indyanna.

Friends may call Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm in the Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Rd., Brookside.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 am in the funeral home with Pastor Kevin Rowland officiating.  Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery.
