William H. Bender, 66, of Martins Ferry, OH died Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry. He was born June 9, 1952 in Martins Ferry a son of the late William J. and Eleanor Louise (Varner) Bender.

William retired from the Water Dept. of Martins Ferry and was a member of the Redman Club. He was catholic by faith.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Bender and Carol Bender.

Surviving are his wife, Gail (Gruber) Bender, his children; Brenda Wilson of Martins Ferry and William H. Jr.(Paula) Bender of Barnesville, OH, siblings; Barbara Heath of Wintersville, OH, Rose (Gary) Pugh and Helen (William) Conaway both of Martins Ferry, Stanley (Missy) Bender of Wheeling Island, Robert (Trisha) Bender of Martins Ferry and Penny Finsky of St. Clairsville, OH and eight grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received at Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH Sunday, January 6, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. where services will be held at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Tom Marut officiating. Burial will be held at Riverview Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
