William J. "Jeff" Herr, 60, of Martins Ferry, OH died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry. He was born Feb. 15, 1953 in Martins Ferry a son of the late Walter "Bill" and Gwendolen (Morgan) Herr. He was previously employed with WTRF, Wheeling, WV and The Times Leader, Martins Ferry. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Martins Ferry. Jeff was also a past president of the Martins Ferry Chamber of Commerce, chairman of the Downtown Revitalization Project and Citizens of the year in 1987. Surviving are his wife Melissa (Best) Herr, two daughters; Sherri (Adam) Sink of Cincinnati, OH and Kelly (Randy Dlesk) Herr of Wheeling, WV, two grandchildren; Brady Childers of Wheeling and Lauren Sink of Cincinnati, OH. Friends will be received Wednesday 4 to 8 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013 at 11:00 am with Rev. David Stammerjohn officiating. Interments will be at the convenience of the family.
