William E. Jones, 91, of Martins Ferry, OH, died Sunday, May 10. 2009 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry. He was born May 15, 1917 in Wheeling, WV a son of the late Darwin and Lillian (Chalk) Jones. He retired from the former James H. Beans Foundry Co, of Martins Ferry. Bill was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Martins Ferry and a veteran of the US Army, WWII. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Betty A. (Stevenson) Jones, a brother Charles Jones, and three sisters Margaret Fekete, Elaine Scarnecchia, and Dorothy Januszewski. Surviving are three daughters Sandra (Robert) Mills of West Lafayette, OH, Betty (Richard) Wilson of Martins Ferry, and Carol (James) Hartman of St. Clairsville, OH, a son Jeff (Sandy) Jones of Salem, NH, eleven grandchildren Michael (Lisa) Mills, Richard (Melissa) Mills, Richard Craig (Nancy) Wilson, Jenifer Lynn (William) Nolan, Dwayne (Brandi) Wilson, Tammy Sue (Johnny) Collins, Thomas W. (Michelle) Niven, Jr., Jason (Ashleigh) Jones, and Jeremy, Amanda, and Joshua Jones, 14 great grandchildren Michael, Ashley, Alicia, & Joey Mills, Zachary, Laiken, & Lyndsey Mills, Ashley & Aaron Wilson, Kiersten Nolan, Megan & Lance Collins, and T.J & Kaylee Niven, three great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Wednesday 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Thursday, May 14, 2009 at 11:00 am with Revs. Dr. John F. Helgeson and Bill N. Lawrence officiating. Burial follows in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH. Deacons of the church will hold services Wednesday at 7 pm in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Martins Ferry or the charity of the donor's choice.
