March 20, 1938 – October 19, 2012
William M. "Mike" Sambuco, 74, of Colerain, OH died Friday, Oct. 19, 2012 at his residence. He was born March 20, 1938 in Florence, OH a son of the late William and Anna (Klakich) Sambuco. Mike taught the Mill and Mine and Auto Mechanics programs at the Belmont Career Center in St. Clairsville from 1975 to 2003. After he retired he still was a substitute teacher up until this year when he became ill. Mike enjoyed bowling, boating, camping, riding his motorcycle, racing cars, flying his ultra light, nascar races, golfing, traveling in his RV, local high school football and fishing in Canada with his family. He loved playing music and had a very popular band "The Cordells" that played around the valley for many years. Mike was a member of the Sons of Italy, St. Clairsville Eagles and Aviator Society of Linsly. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Barbara Jean McKinney and his beloved uncle Johnny Klakich. Surviving are his wife Darleen L. (Morris) Sambuco, two sons Mark (Sherri) Sambuco of Mt. Pleasant, OH and William M. (Terri) Sambuco, Jr., of Fairbanks, AK, a daughter Cynthia J. (Stephen) Geruschat of New Castle, PA, a sister Bille Ann Peterson, seven grandchildren, one great granddaughter, many nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, and his beloved dog DJ. Friends will be received Sunday 6-8 pm and Monday 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012 at 11:00 am with Pastor John Cook officiating. Burial follows in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to Liza's Place in care of Valley Hospice, 308 Mt. Saint Joseph Rd., Wheeling, WV 26003 Condolences to the family may be made by signing the guest book at the top of this page.
