WILLIAM E. McCONNAUGHY, 82, of Spring Heights, Brookside, died Thursday, July 24, 2008 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Long Term Care, Martins Ferry. He was born July 12, 1926 in Bridgeport, the son of the late Carl Lester and Daisy Mae (Connell) McConnaughy. William was a member of the Bridgeport Church of God. He retired from the Wheeling Post Office after 50 years of service and was a veteran of the United States Army during WWII. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers Jim and Carl McConnaughy Jr. William is survived by the mother of his children Martha (Stead) McConnaughy of Bridgeport; nine children Patrick and his wife Cassi of Lansing, Becky McConnaughy and Tim of Butler, PA, William Jr. of Bridgeport, Beth Miller and her husband Ross of Columbus, Tommy of Bridgeport, James and his wife Sheri of Dayton, OH, Mark of Bridgeport, Janet McConnaughy of Bridgeport and Scott of Heath, OH; two sisters Bette Ridenour and Jean Sachter both of Denver, CO; seven grandchildren Zachary, Lexie, Sierra, Noah, Isaac, Brinley May and Scott. Visitation will be Sunday Noon - 2 and 4 - 6 pm at Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Rd., Brookside, where funeral services will be held Monday at 10 am with Pastor Thomas Tennant officiating. Interment will follow at Weeks Cemetery, Bridgeport. Full military services will be conducted by the Belmont County Council of the American Legion.
