William K. "Bill" McCrea, 80, of Mt. Pleasant, OH, formerly of Yorkville, OH passed away Friday, Aug. 7, 2009 at home. He was born Apr. 8, 1929 in Jewett, OH a son of the late Bert L. and Verna (Bruck) McCrea. He retired from Ohio Ferro Alloy of Brilliant, OH and had his own electrical business for several years. His hobby was taking care of and working his beautiful farm. Bill was a member and trustee of Scotch Ridge Presbyterian Church. His memberships included: Past Master and current secretary of Ohio City Lodge #486 F. & A.M., Past High Priest Martins Ferry Chapter #173 Royal Arch Masons, Past Illustrious Master of Steubenville Commandery #11, Scottish Rite Valley of Steubenville, Osiris Temple of Wheeling, Legion of Honor, Shriners of North America, Knights Templar Eye Foundation, Secretary of the Masonic Temple Corporation, and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his most beloved daughter Melissa "Missy" McCrea, a grandson Jason Wentz, and a sister Shirley Sauders. Surviving are his wife Marian L. McCrea, his son Keith A. (Joyce) McCrea of Yorkville, OH, a daughter Belinda (Robert) Wentz of Marion, OH, a brother Donald (Martha) McCrea of Hampton, VA, a sister Linda (Edward) Dalton of Reynoldsburg, OH, three grandchildren Justin McCrea, Tommy and Allie Wentz, and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Monday, 2-4 and 6-9 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at 1:30 pm with Pastor Joe Ellis officiating. Masonic Ritualistic services will be Monday at 7:00 pm in the funeral home. Military honors will be provided by the Belmont County Council of the V.F.W. prior to services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Scotch Ridge Presbyterian Church. Condolences to the family may be made by signing the guest book at the top of this page.
