Obituary

William "Bill" J. Patsche, 78 of St. Clairsville, OH passed away peacefully on August 14, 2020, at Peterson Hospital with his wife, Susan, at his side.

Bill was born June 10, 1942, in Wheeling, WV., the son of William J. Patsche Sr. and Rose (Pavilich) Patsche. Bill graduated from Bellaire High School Class of 1960, joined the US Army and served as a military policeman in France from 1960 to 1963. He also served in the army reserves as an E5 1975-1977.

Bill joined the Martins Ferry Police department where he served as a patrolman from 1967 to 1970 and was promoted to Lieutenant. He became Chief of Police from 1992 - 1996. He became a member of the Office of Law Enforcement Technology Commercialization, a branch of the department of justice, where he traveled to 59 cities in 10 years.

Bill was a master of all as he undertook a variety of jobs from doing plumbing, furnace work, air conditioning, and water lines for the residents of Martins Ferry to care for his family. He also taught law enforcement classes in three counties and at the Ohio Peace Officer's Training Academy in London, OH.

He is survived by his loving wife, Susan, of 55 years, daughter, Patty of the home, sister, Carol Fulst and her husband, Ervin, sisters-in-law, Dolores White of KY, Veronica Parfitt, and husband, Dan, of Plano, TX and Barbara Veneskey of AR. He leaves behind a godson, Daniel Parfitt, a nephew, and numerous nieces.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree, the Martins Ferry Elks, and the F.O.P.

Bill was the best. Loved by all, an outstanding husband dancing through life with his wife, Sue. The couple were co-chairs of the Oglebay Formals Board of Directors and board members of the 200 Club Big Band Dance Group.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. Tom Marut officiating.
