William E. Ritchey, 82, of N. 6th St., Martins Ferry, OH died Fri., Mar. 3, 2006 at Shadyside Care Center, Shadyside, OH. He was born Mar., 4, 1923 in Uniontown, PA a son of the late Vernon and Sylvia M. (Daugherty) Ritchey. He was retired from the Ironworkers Union Local #549, Wheeling, WV. William was a member of the First Methodist Church, American Legion Post #38, Redman Club Tribe #75 and Ohio City Lodge # 486 F. & A.M. all of Martins Ferry, V.F.W. Post #4811, Yorkville, OH, Scottish Rite Valley of Steubenville, OH and a veteran of the U.S. Army WWII. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Willa R. (Murphy) Ritchey, a grandson Justin Hughes, a great granddaughter Danielle Kepreos and two brothers and one sister. Surviving are four daughters Billie L. (Jack) Regis, Sylvia J. (Larry) Deaton, Mary M. (Lester) Hughes and Diana L. (John) Schell all of Martins Ferry, two sisters Judy (Henry) Drake of Kingmont, WV and Sandy (Edward) Utzman of Fairmont, WV, eleven grandchildren Corena Mitchell, Teresa Taylor, Laura Powaski, William Deaton, Chad Nelson, Eric Hughes, Leslie Knuth, Robert Dalton, Somer Schell, Holly Dalton, and Dana Schell and fourteen great grandchildren. Friends will be received Mon., 1-4 & 6-8 PM at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Tues., Mar. 7, 2006 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Van Fisher officiating, followed by full military services at the funeral home, by the Belmont County Council of the V.F.W. Burial follows in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH. Masonic Ritualistic Services will be held Mon. at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the First Methodist Church, Third and Clay St., Martins Ferry, OH.
