William A. Ritner, 89 of Wheeling formerly of Bridgeport died Sunday November 4, 2012 at Peterson Rehabilitation Hospital Wheeling surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 18, 1923 in Bridgeport, a son of the late Milton and Virginia (Wilkinson) Ritner. He was a retired Mail Clerk for the Wheeling Post Office for 38 years; a member of Christ United Methodist Church Wheeling, Bill served in the US Air Corp in WWII under Gen. George S. Patton, and a alumni of Bridgeport High School class of 1942. Bill's passion was his family especially his grandchildren, and great grandchildren, gardening, WVU and Ohio State football, classical music, and old movies. Bill was the last of his parents siblings going before him was Wilma Pritchard, Nelson, Bob, Harry, and Wayne Ritner. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years Virginia Mae (Norris) Ritner,, children Deborah (Dan) Hinkle of Charles Town WV, Roger (Pat) Ritner of Jensen Beach FL, and Dr. Gary (Pam) Ritner of St. Cloud MN, nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and a great great granddaughter. Friends and family are invited to a memorial service at Christ United Methodist Church 1232 National Road Wheeling, WV on Sunday November 11, 2012 at 2 pm Dr. Gary D. Ritner will be officiating, a reception will follow at the Church. Wilson Funeral Home 920 National Road Brookside assisting the family. Interment will be in Linwood Cemetery Blaine.
