SICKLE, William Henry ""Bill"", 84, of Mt. Pleasant, Ohio, died Sunday, May 17, 2009 at Ohio Valley Medical Center in Wheeling, surrounded by those who loved him. He was born January 5, 1925 in Mt. Pleasant, the son of the late Isaac and Sylvia (Mercer) Sickle. William was retired from the Ohio Valley Dairy in Martins Ferry; he was also a retired auto mechanic. He was a former councilman and member of the Board of Public Affairs in Mt. Pleasant. He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Friends Church and attended St. Paul Lutheran Church in Brookside. He was a sergeant in the United States Army and served in active duty during World War II. Bill was a member of the St. Clairsville VFW Post 5356. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn (Matheas) Sickle; a brother, Lewis ""Bud"" Sickle; three sisters, Alta Brown, Margaret Jarrells and Sarah Elizabeth Sickle. William is survived by his wife, Adabelle (Davis) Schwender Sickle; a son, Kenn (Cheryl) Sickle of St. Clairsville; and a granddaughter, Mallory Sickle and her two brothers, Larry (Kathy) Murray of Wayne, Ohio and great grandchildren Tyler, Mackenzie and Rachel; and Adam (Rose) Murray of Cottage Grove, Oregon and great grandchild Constance. Bill was an uncle to several nieces and nephews. Bill dearly loved his wife's family: Hally (Monica) Schwender and Vi (Jim) McGee of Martins Ferry; Pam (Wolfgang) Marquardt of Snohomish, Washington; and the late Susan (Jack) Tittle. Also, grandchildren including Mark, Jack, Aaron, Lisa, David, Heidi, Jared, Larry, Adam and Chrissy; many great and great great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Wednesday 4-7 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Rd., Brookside. Friends are then invited to attend visitation on Thursday from 1 p.m. until the time of William's funeral services at 2 p.m. at the Mt. Pleasant Friends Church with Pastor James Ogden officiating. Interment with graveside military service will follow at Short Creek Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Pleasant Friends Church, Union St., Mt. Pleasant, OH 43939
