William C. "Bill" Soltes 90, of St. Clairsville formerly of Barton died August 4, 2014 at Forest Hill Retirement Complex St. Clairsville. He was born September 5, 1923 in Barton a son of the late Andrew and Anna (Maltez) Soltes. He was a retired tool and die maker for the former International Harvester Plant Shadyside. He was a veteran of WWII in the US Army, a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church Bridgeport, the American Legion Post 159 St. Clairsville, a life member of the DAV # 117 Bellaire, Past Commander of the VFW Post 8848 Colerain, a life member of the Lansing Sportsman Club, the Maynard PNA Club, Colerain Senior Citizens, the Buckeye State Sheriffs Association Columbus Ohio, the St. Clairsville Eagles Aerie #2541the Bridgeport Foresters, the Polish Club, and a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 4243 St. Clairsville. Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to everyone. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife Helen (Burgy) Soltes, a son Robert C. Soltes in 1994, four brothers Steve, Joseph, and Andy, and John Soltes, two sisters Sophia Fugo, and Elizabeth Sabo. Bill is survived by a son Charles W. (Chris) C. Soltes of Columbus, a daughter Nancy (Mark) A. Hartline of Belmont, brothers; Frank (Dee) Soltis of Columbus, and George (Theresa) Soltis of Canton, four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, also many nieces and nephews, and his Golden Year Companion Mary Bielenski. Friends will be received at the Wilson Funeral Home 920 National Road Brookside on Thursday August 7, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 am at St. Anthony Catholic Church Bridgeport with Fr. John Mucha as celebrant, interment at Park View Cemetery Wheeling. Wake service will be recited on Thursday at 2 pm, full military service will be conducted by the Belmont County Council of the VFW on Friday at 9:15 at the Funeral Home.To leave a condolence please visit www.wilsonffuneralhomes.com
