Calliope K. “Poppy” Marangos, 92, of Wheeling, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2023, in Good Shepherd Nursing Home. She was born on January 2, 1931, in Pireus, Greece a daughter of the late Konstantinos and Harikleia (Hatziantoniou) Roditis. She was a member of St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church in Wheeling and the Martins Ferry Greek Orthodox Church of the Life-Giving Fountain. Poppy loved cooking and baking especially Greek recipes.
She is survived by her daughters, Darleen (Michael) Archer, and Carrie (Gus) Polikandriotis; two sisters, Esther Roditis, and Maria Roditis; seven grandchildren, Nikki, Tommy, Holly, Mikey, Maria, Nicholas, and Tjannis; three great grandchildren, Mia, Nikolas, and Kita; and several nieces and nephews.
Poppy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Nicholas Marangos in 1986; a son, Minas M. Marangos; and two sisters, Lemonia Panagiotou and Sylvia Roditis.
Friends may call Thursday from 10 to 11 am in the Martins Ferry Greek Orthodox Church of the Life-Giving Fountain, 314 N. 5th St., Martins Ferry. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 am in the church. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling.
