Elaine A. (Armbruster) Hunter

Elaine Hunter, 92, formerly of Bridgeport and St. Clairsville died February 27, 2026, at Ridgecrest of McCandless – Reflections Memory Care, Pittsburgh. 

She was born October 29, 1933, in Martins Ferry, Ohio, the daughter of the late John E. Armbruster and Freida (Woods) Armbruster. 

Elaine was the private secretary to the President of Instruction at Rockingham Community College in North Carolina for many years.  After retirement Elaine moved back to the Ohio Valley and settled in St. Clairsville with her husband Bob, both becoming very active members of Thoburn United Methodist Church.  She was also a volunteer for Valley Hospice.  She loved every dog she ever met, and her family, friends and church always came first. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert (Bob) Hunter; her daughter, Kristie Hunter-Mitchell; her brother, Larry Armbruster; sister Carol (Frank) Givens; sisters-in-law, Edith Armbruster and Betty (Joseph) Savarise. 

Surviving is her brother John (Jack) Armbruster of Martins Ferry; sister-in-law, Diana Armbruster of Clemmons, NC; son-in-law, Gary Mitchell of Seekonk, MA; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Family and friends will be received Friday, March 6, 2026, from 2-8pm, at the Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Rd., Bridgeport, OH 43912.  Visitation will continue on Saturday, March 7, 2026, from 10 till time of funeral service at 11am at the funeral home with Rev. Jeffery Croft officiating.  Private burial will be at the Weeks Cemetery.
