Eleanor Francis (Shaffer) Mauck

Eleanor F. Mauck, 95, of Bridgeport, OH passed away May 21, 2020 at Beacon House in St. Clairsville, OH.

She was born March 20, 1925 in Pittsburgh, PA, a daughter of the late Chester J. and Marie M. (Komosa) Shaffer.

Eleanor was a member of the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Bridgeport where she served as a choir member, Eucharistic Minister, and volunteer at the church, and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. 

She was employed for many years as a domestic by the Doctors Heceta in Wheeling, WV.

During WWII, Eleanor worked in a Defense Plant in Pittsburgh while also studying for her diploma and being a nanny for a prominent Pittsburgh family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James “Bernie” Mauck; sons, Raymond and Kenneth Mauck; siblings, Francis, Vincent, and Chester Shaffer, Marie Shaffer, Margaret Kremin, and Helen Ludwig; and son-in-law Bruce Nelson.

Eleanor is survived by her children; Bernard (Sharon) Mauck of Pataskala, OH, Helen “Sis” (David) Bartsch, Donna (Bill) Nelson Gilson, Corinne (Robert) Szabo all of St. Clairsville; daughter-in-law, Rose Mauck; fourteen grandchildren; and twenty-three great-grandchildren with two on the way.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 6th at 10a.m. at St. Anthony's Cemetery in Blaine.
