Elsie Vera Wheeler Cook, 90, of St. Clairsville formerly of Lansing, was welcomed into Heaven’s gates by the Lord on August 21, 2020 to join the love of her life, Jimmie. She was born December 13, 1929, a daughter of the late Dewey and Anna (Graham) Wheeler.
Elsie is survived by children Jim (Peggy), Cook of St. Clairsville, Teri (Kipp) Kubbs of Fort Mills SC, and Brad Cook of Baltimore, OH. She adored her eight grandchildren: Greg (Megan), Kirt (Mandy), Kody (Sherry), Jenny (Blake), Dana (Michael), Quinton (Grace), Hayden, and Gavin. She also enjoyed spoiling her seven great-grandchildren: Gwen, Jaxson, Savannah, Delaney, Sadie, Lorelai, and Avery.
Elsie is survived by her brother Butch (Toni) Ishmael and sister-in-law Dorothy Cook. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Jim, step-father Richard Ismael, in-laws Jim and Olive Cook, daughter-in-law Amy, sister Val Doris Reese, brother Bud (Susie) Wheeler, sister-in-law Doris (Gene) Wilson, and brother-in-law Ray Cook.
Elsie loved family events and gatherings, her church and the Lord, sports of all kinds (thanks for looking out for her at all those games), to read, and she loved – truly loved all her friends.
Friends will be received Friday, August 28 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Road, Brookside, Ohio. We will celebrate Elsie’s incredible life at the Lansing United Methodist Church on Saturday, August 29 with visitation from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am with Pastor John Jackson officiating. We will be observing mandatory face coverings and social distancing at all times. A private family service will follow at Holy Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove.
